Salvatore Mancuso is the founder of Equinox. After legal studies, in the early ‘70s, Salvatore starts his career in the banking sector at Sicilcassa, gradually holding positions of increasing responsibility and reaching, in a few years, the peak of the career for the territorial network of the Banking Institute. In the mid ‘80s he becomes top manager of Gruppo Rodriquez, leader of the shipbuilding industry where, capitalizing his financial and managing skills developed over the previous years, he achieves a path of growth culminating with the company’s listing on the Milan Stock Exchange. In the early ‘90s he is called to lead the industrial and financial restructuring of the Gerolimich- Unione Manifatture, an articulate Italian industrial conglomerate, for which he achieves a complex operation characterized by courageous industrial choices and innovative legal solutions. After the mandate for the reorganization of Fintecna, a state-owned industrial holding, in 1995 Salvatore is appointed to lead the important industrial and financial restructuring of Gruppo Santavaleria, conglomerate listed on the Milan Stock Exchange and operating on International markets through various foreign subsidiaries. Thanks to wide and in-depth managerial actions, relating both the industrial and financial activities of the Group, Salvatore is able to preserve the operations of important industrial players, saving prestigious Italian brands and preserving many jobs. In addition to the above-mentioned roles, Salvatore has been member of the Board of Directors of prestigious Italian Banks such as Unicredit and Capitalia, Chairman of Banco di Sicilia as well as of industrial companies such as Enel and Alitalia. On 2001 Salvatore establishes Equinox, capitalizing as entrepreneur the huge expertise and knowledge accumulated in the previous experiences and creating the group of professionals that still today, after 20 years, liven up the firm. His professional and entrepreneurial skills earned him two Honoris Causa Degrees in Business from the American University of Rome and from the Isida Institute of Palermo. Sicilian with the pride of whom recognize the value of his roots, his career path has always been focused on the efforts to achieve his goals, which is synthesized in his motto, bequeathed by his father: Homo faber suae quisque fortunae. His success is the result of his undisputed human qualities, which always inspired him and made him unforgettable for everyone who has known him. The sense of responsibility, the loyalty, the equilibrium, the freedom in taking actions in order to protect transparently and courageously investors and companies and, more generally, the respect of the human being, represent the eternal proof of his action as man and as entrepreneur. Salvatore has left us in April 2020, but his memory and his teachings are still alive in Equinox’ activity and way of making private equity.
