Ton Schutte is a transactional lawyer with extensive experience in negotiating, structuring, and closing cross-border transactions for Dutch and global corporate and financial clients. He has a proven track record in public M&A, cross-border M&A, and corporate advisory services. Ton assisted Petronas, a Malaysian oil company, in the acquisition of the Dutch specialty chemicals company Da Vinci from Bencis and advised Garmin on the acquisition of the Dutch-based indoor sports company Tacx. He also advised FrieslandCampina in forming its joint venture with United Dairymen of Arizona (UDA) to produce lactoferrin, a multifunctional protein. Recently, Ton led a team assisting JBS S.A. in the €341 million acquisition of Vivera, a Dutch manufacturer of plant-based meats. Prior to joining Jones Day, Ton worked in the Amsterdam and New York offices of an international law firm. During this time he advised: Avast on the $1.3 billion acquisition of AVG Technologies; FrieslandCampina on the joint venture with Engro Foods, Pakistan; NXP on the $2.75 billion divestment of its standard product business; KBL European Private Bankers on the acquisition of Bank Insinger de Beaufort; Royal Ten Cate on the €675 million recommended cash offer by a consortium led by Gilde Buy Out Partners; AkzoNobel on the joint venture agreements with ICL for the production of salt and white potash in Spain; and Heineken on the €114 million acquisition of a majority stake in Slovenian brewer Pivovarna Laško. Ton has been recognized as a market leader by numerous legal publications, including described as "a responsive lawyer with good support team" and "pleasant to work with" by the IFLR1000.
