Thomas De Muynck heads the Brussels M&A practice and has more than 20 years of experience in private equity, venture capital, and strategic corporate transactions. He has extensive experience in the life sciences and technology sectors. Thomas is listed as a leading M&A lawyer in Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, and The Legal 500. Recent deals that Thomas has led include Proxyclick's sale to Thoma Bravo/Condeco; Seventure Partner's sale of Anytime SA to Orange; Arsenal Capital's acquisition of Histogenex and Caprion; Astellas Pharma's €800 million acquisition of biotech company Ogeda; and a number of technology acquisitions for technology conglomerate Hexagon AB. In the venture capital arena, he has represented funds such as Index Ventures, Fortino Capital, Alven, Stride.vc, Seventure Partners, BNPP Private Equity, Hi-Inov, and XAnge and has worked on investment rounds involving Collibra, Odoo, Cowboy, Techwolf, Silverfin, Piesync, DobCo, and many others. He has accompanied firms through their entire life cycle, including incorporation, successive financing rounds, restructurings, and successful exits. U.S. clients he has worked with include American Industrial Partners, Diebold, MasterCard, Riverside, Wabtec, Specialized, STERIS, and Calgon. Thomas was based in Japan for several years and has particular experience representing Japanese clients in cross-border acquisitions. He worked on joint ventures in Europe and South America for Toyota and on EU acquisitions for Astellas, Bridgestone, and Sumitomo Bakelite. Thomas is a member of the Legal & Tax Committee of the Belgium-Japan Association and of the International Bar Association. He has lived and worked in Brussels, Tokyo, and New York.
