A highly versatile transactional lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience, Ron Kornreich represents clients in a wide range of commercial transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, license agreements, and general real estate and corporate matters. In particular, Ron has vast knowledge and experience in the hospitality sector, where, as part of Akerman’s Chambers USA nationally recognized Hospitality Sector Team, he regularly advises owners, operators and developers of hotels, resorts and mixed-use real estate developments throughout the United States and around the world. His experience includes representing buyers and sellers of individual hotel assets, portfolios and management companies, negotiating management and franchise agreements involving virtually all of the major hotel brands as well as independent operators, and representing borrowers in complex financing arrangements. Additionally, he handles residential management, marketing, and license arrangements for mixed-use projects, and advises on equity investments in and recapitalizations of hospitality assets. Ron’s practice extends to all real estate asset classes. Ron represents commercial real estate developers, investors, and capital providers in acquiring and selling assets in the multifamily, senior housing, student housing, office, and retail sectors. He also represents real estate sponsors and financial partners in the formation of joint ventures for both development projects (including within opportunity zones) and operating assets, including for one-off joint ventures, programmatic relationships, and preferred equity ventures. Moreover, Ron assists closely-held companies with new business ventures, restructurings, and succession planning, and acts as outside general counsel to a number of his clients, providing strategic legal and business advice. A native New Yorker, Ron has lived in both New York and Florida and is admitted to practice in both states.
