Kiran Rao Bio

Kiran Rao is a Partner and Director of Portfolio Operations with TPG Capital and is based in San Francisco, where he is a leader on the Tech Operations team. Since 2010, Kiran has been involved in numerous investments including Anastasia Beverly Hills, WellSky (formerly Mediware), Everfi, Cirque Du Soleil, Chobani, Enlivant, RentPath (formerly Primedia), and Univision Communications. Prior to joining TPG, Kiran spent five years as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, serving clients in the TMT and private equity space, and before that worked in Silicon Valley in professional services and product management roles at Accenture, Cisco Systems, and Asera, a Kleiner Perkins software start-up. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley, as a Chancellor's Scholar, and an MBA from Columbia Business School, as a Dean’s Scholar. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Cal Alumni Association (CAA) at UC Berkeley.
