Anfissa Smith is the VP of Finance at Mercato. She oversees the recurring finance functions at the firm, including the quarterly and annual investor financial reports, the monthly accounting close process, and regular portfolio company analyses and reviews. She works closely with the Chief Financial Officer to provide accurate and timely information to investors and helps ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Before joining Mercato, Anfissa was a Senior Manager at KPMG in the audit practice. At KPMG she served clients in the hedge fund, technology / SaaS, and other industries in accordance with PCAOB and AICPA requirements and U.S. GAAP and GASB principles. She brings deep knowledge of financial statement review and compliance. Anfissa has extensive training on project management and leadership skills and addressed complex technical matters including accounting for revenue recognition, business combinations, income taxes, investment fair value measurement, impairment analyses, debt, share-based payments, and allowance for loan and lease losses. Anfissa received a B.S. in accounting and a Masters of Accountancy from the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. She is also a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants. She serves in the Opportunity Scholar and Accounting Advisory Boards at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. Anfissa also enjoys gardening, cooking, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family.
