Bio

A seasoned private equity professional, Mr Tang founded Affinity Equity Partners in 2002, having been active in the industry since 1989. Prior to Affinity, Mr Tang held several leadership positions with UBS: in 1995 he was Chief Executive for Investment Banking, East Asia, with additional oversight responsibility for private equity activities, at Union Bank of Switzerland. Following the merger of Union Bank of Switzerland and Swiss Bank Corporation to form UBS, he was named Chief Executive, Hong Kong, of UBS Group and Head of Investment Banking, Asia, for UBS Investment Bank in 1998. His last position with the Group was Chairman of UBS Capital Asia Pacific, a role he took on in 1999. Before his association with UBS, Mr Tang served firstly as President and CEO of Banque Indosuez’s Asian investment bank and then Chairman of WI Carr (Far East) Limited, one of the leading stockbroking firms in Asia. In 1975 he began his financial career with Chase Manhattan Bank, where over 17 years he held various senior management positions including Country Wholesale Banking Manager (Malaysia) and several significant roles in regional investment banking in Hong Kong. Mr Tang holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (Accounting) with First Class Honours from University of Malaya. He speaks English, Malay and Cantonese.
