Mill City Capital Team

Darren leads and manages Mill City Capital. He has led or co-led Mill City Fund investments in Union Tractor, Wholesale Produce Supply, JMH International, Bonnetts Energy, Horizon Hobby, Impact Confections and Mobile Pro Systems. He currently serves as chairman of the board for Behrens Manufacturing Company and Mobile Pro Systems. He also serves on the board of Union Tractor and Horizon Hobby. He began his career at the investment bank, Piper Jaffray (now Piper Sandler), where he spent his last six years as the Group Head for Consumer Investment Banking leading a team that built a leading national franchise. In 2003, Darren joined Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison, another private equity firm, before co-founding Mill City Capital. In addition to his professional board responsibilities, Darren currently serves as a trustee for The Minnesota Orchestra and is a trustee emeritus of The Blake School and The Nature Conservancy and Wilderness Inquiry, both non-profit environmental organizations. He also played professional hockey in Europe. Darren graduated from Yale University and earned an MBA at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
