Jason Shafer Bio

Jason began private equity principal investing in 2003 and joined Council Capital in 2023. Prior to Council, Jason was the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Development Officer for EyeSouth Partners, a rapidly scaling physician practice management company that was successfully exited in 2022. Before his operating company role, Jason worked for several private equity firms including William Blair Capital Partners, Chicago Growth Partners, and HCP & Company, where he led healthcare investments and successfully sold companies operating in behavioral health, home-based care & multi-site clinics, and acute & post-acute facilities. Jason has closed over 60 private equity transactions throughout his career, representing more than $3.3 billion in value. Jason started his career in investment banking at Thomas Weisel Partners in San Francisco and New York City where he advised emerging public and private technology companies in mergers and acquisitions and equity capital markets transactions. Jason earned his MBA from the one-year program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and his BA with honors from Vanderbilt University.
