Chris Smith Bio

Chris joined Council Capital in 2023 as the Chief Financial Officer. His responsibilities include leading the firm’s accounting, finance, and compliance functions. Prior to joining Council, Chris was the Head of Fund Services North America at TMF Group (formerly Venture Back Office) where he spent twelve years, helping the team build and grow a fund administration firm focused on servicing primarily private equity, venture capital, and fund-of-funds based in Raleigh, NC. Before joining TMF Group, Chris was an Audit & Assurance Manager at Ernst & Young LLP with both the Boston and Raleigh offices where he spent six years in public accounting primarily focused on the auditing of financial service institutions and life sciences companies. Chris earned his MBA from the University of Massachusetts at Boston and his B.S. in Accounting from North Carolina State University. He is also a licensed CPA in the state of North Carolina.
