He’s served as executive chairman of Cypress Semiconductor, chairman of Flextronics International, and lead independent director on the board of Oracle Corporation, as well as on boards at Cadence Design Systems, KLA-Tencor, Freescale Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, TriNet Group, and Elementum. Earlier in his career he was CFO, president CEO, and then executive chairman at Cadence Design Systems. Ray has served on the Business Roundtable and as chairman of the Electronic Design Automation Consortium, co-founder and board member of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, trustee of the U.S. Olympic Committee, board member of public TV and radio station KQED, co-founder of the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, and trustee for the National Parks Conservation Association. He was named an Outstanding Director by the Financial Times in 2009, and received the 2005 Pioneers and Purpose Award from the Silicon Valley Education Foundation and the 2002 Corporate Innovation Recognition Award from the IEEE. Ray holds an MBA from Harvard and a BS in economics and an honorary doctorate of humanities from Weber State University. Outside work, when he’s not building community through his nonprofit efforts, he enjoys spending time with his five grown children and 18 grandchildren, all of whom live near his Silicon Valley home.
