Panini, a company founded in 1961 in Modena, is the European leader in the production of stickers for children and is recognized in particular for its football league and Walt Disney stickers collections. The company had been managed by the Panini family until 1988, when it was acquired by the Maxwell group. Investitori Associati’s share was acquired in 1993 following the management buy-in from the Mawell group liquidation. In two years the new management team restructured the company, increasing revenues by 40% and significantly improving profitability. The company has been sold in 1994 to the US publishing group Marvel.
