Pacific Plaza is a 22-hectare continuing care retirement community development with an integrated medical complex. The first phase of this development, Mango Plantation includes the construction of a hospital and medical office building. IHC, which operates a hospital in San José, Costa Rica (Cima), among other Latin American cities, has signed a contract to rent and operate the Pacific Plaza hospital when completed. The target market for this project comprises mainly medical tourists and retirees, primarily from the US. IHC already has a relationship with a number of US health insurance companies to bring patients to Costa Rica, where they can be treated at a lower cost than in the US.
