Joe Kimmet Bio

Joe’s practice focuses on federal and state tax planning and partnership and limited liability company law. He regularly advises clients with respect to business formations and mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations. He also has experience representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities. Joe received a B.A. in English (literature concentration), summa cum laude, from the University of Tennessee, a J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Tennessee, and an LL.M. in Taxation, summa cum laude, from the University of Alabama. While at the University of Tennessee, he was a member of the Tennessee Law Review and served as Executive Editor of Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law. Prior to joining the firm, Joe practiced in the corporate tax group at a large law firm in Nashville, Tennessee. Joe is licensed to practice in North Carolina, Tennessee, and before the United States Tax Court.
