Christopher Douglass focuses his practice on private equity and mezzanine funds, including small business investment companies (SBICs). He advises funds from inception through liquidation, with a focus on debt and equity investments and portfolio company matters. Chris represents all types of private equity, mezzanine, venture capital, and other investment funds. Specifically, he counsels funds as they make, manage, and exit investments and advises portfolio companies on a wide range of business, financing, securities, and governance issues. Chris has extensive experience representing middle market funds on their acquisitions and sales of control equity positions and on a wide variety of debt investments. He also regularly represents privately held businesses that receive investments from private equity funds or sell to private equity funds and their portfolio companies. As part of one of the most active SBIC practices in the nation, Chris has counseled funds seeking SBIC licenses and frequently advises funds on SBIC regulatory compliance matters. This allows him to provide unique insight into SBIC regulations in structuring and executing investments. He also frequently advises banks and funds on capital call lines of credit and leverage lines of credit.
