Bio

Gregory Bishop advises companies at critical junctures in their life cycles on mergers and acquisitions, formation, raising funds from private equity and venture capitalists, joint ventures and other typical and unusual issues faced by business organizations. Greg regularly counsels public and privately held entities in a variety of industries, including financial services, retail, federal government contracts, manufacturing and distribution as well as information technology, e-commerce and software development. Greg is chair of the Corporate Section of Williams Mullen and he serves on the firm's board of directors. Before joining the firm, he worked at KPMG as a CPA. He is a past president of the Business Law Section of the Richmond Bar Association and is a former member of its Executive Committee. He also served as an active member of the Richmond Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), culminating with service as its President in 2020. Greg is also a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Greg has been recognized for Corporate/M&A Law by Chambers USA (2014-present) and named among Virginia's “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business (2008-present). He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America© (2013-present) for Corporate Law, Business Organizations (including LLCs and Partnerships) and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, and he has been listed in Virginia Super Lawyers (2010-present). He regularly speaks at corporate and mergers and acquisitions seminars, including programs sponsored by ALI-ABA, SNL Financial and the Virginia State Bar. Greg currently serves as President of the Weinstein Jewish Community Center. He was awarded the organization’s Esther, Edith & H.J. Bernstein Volunteer Leadership Award in 2021 and the Leroy B. Goldberg Leadership Award in 2019. Greg is a two-time past chair and current board trustee of the Virginia-West Virginia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, where he led the organization’s realignment efforts throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He also served on the National Board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society from 2016 to 2022. Greg also serves on the boards of Chamber RVA, the Virginia Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program and Virginia Voice. He recently concluded a six-year term as a board member of the Richmond Forum. He is a Fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation (Class of 2017) and a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond (Class of 2007). He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from James Madison University and his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law. While in law school, he served as managing editor of the University of Richmond Law Review.
