Bio

Kristina Wesch is a Partner and Co-Chair of Wiggin and Dana’s Health Care Department. Kristina advises a wide range of health care providers such as hospitals, physicians and physician groups, skilled nursing facilities, retirement communities, and other long-term care providers to assist them in meeting their strategic, financial and mission-based goals. Kristina routinely counsels clients on general corporate matters, mergers, acquisitions, RFP processes, and reorganizations. She also has broad experience representing health care providers in bankruptcy court matters, including representation of bidders in 363 sales and asset acquisitions, and representation of chapter 11 debtors. Kristina has successfully led certificate of need, licensure and other regulatory applications. As co-chair of the firm’s Restructuring and Distressed Transactions Practice Group, Kristina is uniquely positioned to quickly provide creative and practical solutions to clients operating in an industry subject to volatility and rapid change. A natural extension of her industry focus in health care, Kristina has developed a depth of experience advising nonprofit corporations in affiliations, disaffiliations, mergers, member substitutions, dissolutions, organizational matters, corporate governance, fiduciary duties, distressed situations, and bankruptcy court matters. She assists clients with obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt and public charity status and with compliance with state nonprofit laws. Kristina is involved in numerous memberships and associations including the American Health Law Association (AHLA), where she has served as a speaker, the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section, and the American Bankruptcy Institute, where she currently serves as a Coordinating Editor for the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal’s Intensive Care column. Kristina earned her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law where she participated in Law Review. She received her B.A. from Queens College, CUNY.
