Benjamin Argyle Bio

Benjamin Argyle concentrates his practice on efficient and effective dispute management. As an accomplished commercial litigator, Benjamin works with clients in a variety of industries, including private equity and family offices, financial services, hospitality, food and agriculture, healthcare, nonprofit, and government contracting. He regularly appears in state and federal courts in insurance, class action, corporate governance, antitrust, real estate project, and commercial disputes. He also represents clients in matters before the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Benjamin also leads Venable’s Risk Management Review (RMR) team. The RMR team counsels private equity and family office clients in understanding and administering their liability, insurance, reporting, and other risk management practices. Benjamin provides coverage analyses for his clients on the intersection of general liability, builders’ all-risk, property and casualty, employer’s liability, and professional malpractice insurance portfolios. He has successfully prosecuted and defended against multiple lis pendens and mechanics' lien disputes, and the underlying breach of construction contract claims, for claims ranging from $500 to $30 million. In addition, Benjamin has written extensively on New York's Freedom of Information Law (FOIL). His recommendations for amending the FOIL statute have been introduced as bills in the New York State Assembly and Senate.
