Bio

Peter Tong is a partner at Russ August & Kabat, focusing on intellectual property litigation with an emphasis on matters in the Western District of Texas, where he previously served as the law clerk to the Honorable Judge Alan D. Albright. Peter has represented companies in numerous patent lawsuits and helped a client secure a jury verdict for hundreds of millions of dollars. He has won inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the USPTO and matters for both plaintiffs and defendants before federal courts. In addition to patent litigation, Peter has also handled cases regarding the theft of trade secrets and breach of confidentiality. Peter filed and managed hundreds of patent applications in a variety of fields including computer architecture, memory design, analog circuits, digital circuits, processors, online searching, online advertising, software, semiconductor fabrication, cooling systems, power devices and circuits, power generation and distribution systems, server systems, mobile devices, semiconductor materials, and wireless communications devices. He also represented clients by drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, filing appeals, advising on strategies for broadening patent portfolio protection, writing freedom to operate opinions, performing patent searches, and assisting startups to acquire initial patent protection for their products. Before completing his law degree at the University of Texas at Austin, Peter worked on computer architecture at Hewlett Packard and on electronic systems at Raytheon Corp. He graduated summa cum laude with an electrical engineering degree at the University of Texas at Dallas.
