Rob has a leading reputation in acting investment banks, funds and private equity clients investing in the maritime and offshore industries. A recognised practitioner with more than two decades of experience advising on shipping transactions, Rob has led from the buy side in most of the large non-performing shipping loan portfolio transactions in the market over the past few years and on numerous large and complex restructurings, M&A transactions, joint ventures and structured financings. Rob’s main area of focus is acting for banks and financial institutions, funds and private equity clients, and owners in relation to debt and mezzanine finance, leasing, restructurings and workouts, M&A and secondary loan trading. He is part of Reed Smith’s Global Leadership Team and previously chair of the firm’s globally recognized Transportation Industry Group. In giving the Shipping Loan Portfolio Adviser of the Year award to Reed Smith at the Global Transport Finance Awards 2019, the judges described Rob as “best in the business, hands down”.
