Mitchell joined the Much Shelist Management Committee in 2004 and was instrumental in a successful transition of firm governance from the founders to the next generation of leadership. After serving on the Management Committee for nearly a decade, Mitchell was named Managing Partner in June 2012. In that role, he is responsible for the firm’s long-term direction and overall growth, which includes building and implementing the firm’s strategic vision, preserving the firm’s unique client-centric and employee-focused culture, and overseeing the firm’s day-to-day operations. He also plays a vital role in the expansion of the firm’s service offerings and client base. In leading the firm and advising his clients, Mitchell draws on his own significant experience as an entrepreneur and business leader, having served as an officer, director and owner of a successful national home warranty company. A certified public accountant, he also worked in the tax services area of KPMG Peat Marwick and in the audit department of Arthur Andersen's London office prior to beginning his legal practice. Mitchell is a regular speaker on corporate and tax issues at conferences and seminars sponsored by business, industry and legal organizations such as Thomson Reuters, and has been quoted in publications such as Corporate Counsel and Inside Counsel. He has also authored a quarterly column, “View from a Midsize Firm,” which was published in Chicago Lawyer and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
