Bio

Co-chair of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Law Practice, Douglas Litvack is a versatile antitrust lawyer who leverages his prior experience at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to help clients successfully navigate the full gamut of competition law-related issues. His broad antitrust practice includes plaintiff- and defense-side litigation, including class actions and appeals, responding to government investigations into alleged anticompetitive business practices and M&A, and counseling clients on mitigating antitrust risk. In the past year, Doug secured wins for his clients in the Supreme Court and the 6th and 9th Circuit Courts of Appeals, and he obtained a favorable settlement for his client, resolving several years of complex litigation. Doug has successfully defended clients facing FTC, DOJ, and state attorney general investigations into their business practices or transactions, including representing a private equity client in securing antitrust clearance for its $2.1 billion sale of a jet fueling company to a competitor, and obtaining FTC clearance of a $4.3 billion sale of retail pharmacies to a competitor. Doug has represented clients in a variety of industries and routinely uses the knowledge gained in those matters to address antitrust issues with creative solutions and strategies, and to provide clients with efficient, tailored, and practice antitrust advice. His clients value his ability to offer actionable strategies, in counseling or litigation, that achieve both their business objectives and solve any antitrust issues. While at the FTC, Doug played a central role in several antitrust investigations and high-profile litigations. He was twice awarded the FTC’s Janet D. Steiger Award for his outstanding contributions in key litigations, as well as its prestigious Stephen Nye Award for his contribution to the FTC trial team in FTC et al v. St. Luke’s Hospital Sys. et al. More recently, Doug was named a 2022 Rising Star by Law360, honoring lawyers whose legal accomplishments belie their age. Doug is actively representing clients in high-stakes antitrust litigation in courts across the country and before federal and state antitrust enforcers.
