Andrew chairs the Mergers and Acquisitions practice group. Andrew is a partner in Gunderson Dettmer’s Silicon Valley office and chairs the firm’s M&A practice. He has negotiated and completed over 450 M&A transactions involving technology companies with an aggregate value of over $150 billion, covering virtually every industry. Over the last 25+ years, Andrew has represented venture-backed companies in their sales to publicly traded and private equity buyers such as Adobe, Airbnb, Alibaba, Allergan, Amazon, Apple, AT&T, Autodesk, Bio-Techne, Bioverativ, Blackstone, Cadence, Cisco Systems, DiDi Global, eBay, F5 Networks, Fifth Third Bank, Fortive, General Electric, GlaxoSmithKline, Google, Home Depot, Invitae, Lilly, LinkedIn, Meta, Microsoft, News Corp, Nokia, Oracle, Prosus, Roper Technologies, Royal Dutch Shell, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Snowflake, SoFi, Telstra, Thoma Bravo, VMware, Wal-Mart and Yahoo. Before joining Gunderson, Andrew represented publicly traded companies such as Block, Cisco Systems, Flextronics, Intuit, Sony and Symantec in numerous purchases of both publicly traded and privately held companies, as well as business combinations and divestitures. He also counsels boards of directors regarding mergers and acquisitions, governance and anti-takeover matters. He also advises venture capital firms and other investors in M&A transactions involving their portfolio companies. Andrew brings the firm’s industry-leading experience representing high-growth companies throughout their lifecycle to every M&A engagement, including its proprietary knowledge and tools. Andrew was born in Alabama and raised in Virginia, but has called the Bay Area home for the last 30+ years. For better or worse (mostly worse, other than 2019), he has been a lifelong fan of UVA football and basketball. Andrew is a graduate of Stanford Law School and the University of Virginia. Prior to joining Gunderson, he was a partner at Fenwick & West.
