Hans Troesch provides comprehensive strategic counsel to clients ranging from individual inventors and startups to large public companies, focusing on artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, infrastructures, and applications, data science, computer- and software-implemented inventions, and social networks. A founding partner and former managing principal of Fish & Richardson’s Silicon Valley office, Hans draws on his 40 years of experience as an IP attorney — including 30 years focusing on patent practice, with further experience as an IP litigation partner and business lawyer — to provide support for the full range of his clients’ intellectual property needs, guiding them in patent portfolio development and IP strategy with a view to building value for the business. Hans manages portfolios of patents and patent applications, helps clients identify patentable inventions, prepares and supervises the preparation and prosecution of patent applications for filing both in the U.S. and internationally, and develops strategies for building commercially valuable patent portfolios. He is practiced in identifying patentable inventions, running invention harvesting and brainstorming, and interviewing inventors and patent examiners.
