Howard Wall III Bio

Howard Wall draws on more than 40 years of experience as an attorney and executive at health care organizations to help clients navigate business law and health care regulatory issues. Howard focuses his practice on guiding clients, including private equity firms and health care investors, through the health regulatory issues involved in their strategic decisions and health care transactions. He also assists clients with all facets of health regulatory due diligence and advises on mergers, acquisitions, consolidations, affiliations, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions. Private equity firms and other investors in the health care industry seek Howard’s advice because he understands industry trends and how the industry is moving. Clients also turn to Howard for guidance and compliance strategies on state and federal health care laws and other regulatory matters. Additionally, Howard provides outside general counsel and consulting services to various health care companies, employing a blend of astute problem-solving and decisive decision-making to overcome the companies’ business and legal challenges. Before joining Epstein Becker Green, Howard worked at four highly successful health care organizations in senior leadership positions: He was the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer at a national provider of home health and home care services to over 60,000 clients in 12 states. Prior to that, he served as the Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel & Secretary of a Tennessee-based operator of non-urban regional health systems, where he led the company’s legal, corporate governance, risk management, clinical quality, human resources, real estate, and acquisition and development activities. Earlier, Howard served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of a Tennessee-based owner of non-urban health systems, overseeing its legal, corporate governance, and transactional matters. Finally, he was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary, and Corporate Governance Officer of another Tennessee-based owner of non-urban health systems, managing legal and corporate governance activities. Howard began his career as a health care attorney at a Nashville law firm, where he was head of that firm's Healthcare Working Group. Howard's contributions extend beyond practicing law. He has served as an adjunct professor of health law at Washington and Lee University School of Law. Currently, he serves as an adjunct Professor of Health Care Administration at Trevecca Nazarene University. He also has a long history of involvement in professional associations and bar activities, including being a founding Council member of the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section and serving as its Chair from 1999 to 2000.
