Anastasios Kastrinakis practices in the areas of international, corporate, partnership, and state and local taxation. His practice focuses on taxation of cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions and related issues, including investment fund formation, private equity transactions and related partnership tax issues. Mr. Kastrinakis advises individuals, corporations, partnerships, S corporations, family offices and investment funds on the structure and tax aspects of various transactions and investments, particularly inbound transactions. He also advises non-U.S. persons and investment funds on the tax aspects of investing in U.S. real estate, including tax issues pertaining to the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act ("FIRPTA"). Mr. Kastrinakis provides tax advice to buyers and sellers in private transactions, including purchases and sales of partnerships and S corporations. He represents numerous family offices and private equity funds based in Latin America and China on U.S. tax issues related to real estate and other private equity investments in the U.S. In addition, he represents taxpayers undertaking voluntary disclosures under the IRS Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program and advises non-U.S. individuals and families on pre-immigration tax planning. He represents numerous family offices and private equity funds based in Latin America and China on U.S. tax issues related to real estate and other private equity investments in the U.S. Mr. Kastrinakis earned his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 2005. He is a 2004 cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law and a 2001 graduate of Cornell University. He is fluent in Greek.
