Peter Nelson Bio

Peter Nelson is Dorsey's Managing Partner. His dedication to service and collaboration led him to Dorsey's top position. For well over two decades, Peter has embraced a business-outcomes approach to serving clients. Peter is a listener, and his deep knowledge of the industries he serves and the nuances that drive business decisions have been hallmarks of his legal practice and his roles in firm management. In Peter’s legal practice, he has served agents, lenders, borrowers, developers, and private equity funds in all aspects of leveraged financings, syndicated loan transactions, acquisition financings, mezzanine financings, floorplan financings, structured trade credit, receivables and inventory financings, agricultural and cooperative lending, project financings, and other related secured lending and project transactions. He has also advised financial institutions in workouts and refinancings of leveraged loans, secured credit facilities and project finance loans. In addition to serving as Managing Partner, Peter is a former co-leader of the Finance and Restructuring Practice Group and former co-chair of the Banking & Financial Institutions Industry Group. He has also served on Dorsey’s Policy Committee, which acts as the firm’s Board of Directors.
