Ricardo Balestra Bio

Ricardo specializes in the areas of corporate law and energy, with 15+ years of experience in international transactions with a special focus on Latin America. Ricardo co-leads the Private Equity and Venture Capital practice for the entire Latin America and Caribbean region at Dentons. Ricardo has particular expertise in financial services, mergers and acquisitions, and financial technology (FinTech), as well as in the energy sector, including oil & gas, electricity, mining, and renewable energy. Within the corporate area, Ricardo provides advice on corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, investment projects and capital market transactions, with special focus on bank regulations. Additionally, he regularly advises clients on complex shareholders disputes and on matters of general contractual nature. Regarding energy law, Ricardo has provided advice in the negotiation of oil, gas, mining projects, financing of infrastructure projects, negotiation of commercial power purchase agreements (PPAs) and in the implementation of renewable energy projects. In the past years, Ricardo specialized in the FinTech area and has advised companies with the purpose of offering quick solutions for a constantly evolving marked with emerging regulations. Ricardo was trained in Argentina and the United States, completed a Master of Business Law at Duke University School of Law and worked in the Arnold & Porter office in Washington DC during 2016 and 2017.
