Gerald Roberts Bio

Gerald Roberts is a member of Dentons’ Corporate and Intellectual Property & Technology practice groups, focusing on various aspects of intellectual property law, including preparation of patent opinions (including freedom to operate, infringement, designing around, and patentability), intellectual property auditing, assessment, and due diligence, international patent portfolio management, and preparation and prosecution of domestic and international patent applications, in the computer, electrical, electro-mechanical, and mechanical arts. His practice experience spans a variety of technologies, including artificial intelligence, telecommunications, digital signal processing, semiconductors, electrical power metering, fluid level and flow measurement, and medical devices. He is also experienced in rendering trademark opinions, and in preparing and prosecuting trademark and copyright applications. One thing that sets him apart is his wide range of frontline litigation experience, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secrets, unfair competition, and general business/commercial litigation. He has been a lead litigator in a number of cases, has first chair jury trial experience, has testified as a witness, and has even served as a jury foreman. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Gerald was an electrical engineer and engineering manager. He gained over 10 years of aerospace industry experience with Rolls-Royce/Allison Engine Company in Indianapolis, where he focused on the design and development of data acquisition, facilities automation, and closed-loop gas turbine engine and propeller control systems. He is a Registered Patent Attorney with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
