Spencer Gilbert Bio

Spencer K. Gilbert is a corporate partner and a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity and Healthcare Groups. Mr. Gilbert’s practice regularly advises private equity firms, their portfolio companies and corporate clients on a broad range of transactions, including take-privates, leveraged buyouts, partnership and joint venture arrangements, carveouts and cross-border transactions, as well as corporate governance matters. His experience ranges across industries, including healthcare and adjacent businesses, software, industrials, media and technology, and financial services. In 2023, Mr. Gilbert was named a Law360 MVP for his work successfully negotiating complex and diverse transactions for private equity clients. Mr. Gilbert joined Debevoise in 2013. Mr. Gilbert received a J.D. from Yale Law School in 2013, where he was an executive editor of the Yale Law & Policy Review. He received a B.A. summa cum laude from New York University in 2010, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
