David Dowd, III has more than 35 years of counseling clients in all phases of business and corporate law and regularly handles substantial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital and other equity financings. He earned his CIPP/US certification to become a Certified Information Privacy Professional. David practices in the firm’s Corporate and Tax Practice Group and previously served for several years as the leader of that Practice Group. He has extensive experience in transactions in the manufacturing, distribution, solar energy, health care, and telecommunications industries, and involving distressed businesses. In addition, David has wide-ranging experience with representing buyers and sellers of businesses in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. David served as Law Clerk to The Honorable Judge Robert B. Propst, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama in 1982-1983. While attending law school at Vanderbilt University, David served as Executive Administrative Editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. David is a native of Massillon, Ohio.
