Ryan Reetz Bio

Ryan Reetz, the managing partner of the Miami office, is a board certified specialist in international litigation and arbitration and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He draws upon his experience as both a U.S. trial lawyer and an international arbitration practitioner to provide clients with creative and effective advocacy across a wide range of tribunals. His international disputes practice focuses on cases involving one or more foreign companies, persons, or governments, as well as disputes involving other interests of foreign countries, such as enforcement of foreign judgments or arbitral awards, international discovery, and service of process abroad. His practice also includes class actions, complex commercial litigation, and regulatory matters. In addition to acting as counsel, he serves as an arbitrator in international commercial disputes. Mr. Reetz frequently writes and lectures on arbitration and litigation topics. He teaches transnational civil litigation and arbitration as an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law, and taught the same subject at the University of Miami School of Law from 2003 to 2010. He also serves as a visiting professor at the University of Navarra School of Law in Pamplona, Spain, and was a 2015 Scholar-in-Residence at New York University School of Law. Mr. Reetz has also served as an instructor for trial skills programs of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and has lectured at the Swiss Arbitration Academy and at a number of law schools, including Kings College London, Bucerius Law School, Doshisha University, Marmara University, Istanbul Bilgi University and Istanbul Kültür University. He is the co-author (with Pedro J. Martinez-Fraga) of Public Purpose in International Law: Rethinking Regulatory Sovereignty in the Global Era, published by Cambridge University Press. Mr. Reetz has served as chair of the Florida Bar’s International Litigation and Arbitration Board Certification Committee (2020-2021), the Miami International Arbitration Society (2017), and the Florida Bar International Law Section (2013-2014).
