David Barrett focuses on all aspects of banking and financial services, corporate governance, commercial lending, mergers & acquisitions, litigation and regulatory compliance. Dave has experience negotiating complex legal transactions regarding whole loan purchases, warehouse finance repurchase agreements, mortgage servicing rights facilities, commercial real estate loans, unsecured lending, corporate and industrial loans, solar loans and other structured finance transactions. As part of his corporate practice, Dave advises owners, directors and executive management throughout all phases of corporate compliance, operations, risk management, acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, and restructures. In addition to his transactional work and experience, Dave has deep expertise in advising corporate clients on litigation strategies and disputes related to complex financial transactions, derivatives, structured finance transactions, personal injury, products liability, bankruptcy and creditors rights, commercial loan workouts, construction, real estate, mortgage repurchase and compliance, insurance disputes, and general and professional liability. Dave has also overseen an array of complex investigations that include a wide array of issues with companies in multiple different industries. Prior to joining Balch, Dave was Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel with various financial institutions and has previously represented various corporate clients with material litigation matters.
