Nicholas Simon is a business lawyer who advises companies, private equity sponsors and investors on their most important corporate, finance and commercial transactions. Nick provides each client with prompt and practical advice that helps them achieve their strategic and business objectives while minimizing legal risk and expense. A focus of Nick’s practice is the sports industry, where he has experience advising professional sports leagues, teams and their owners, as well as businesses active in professional, youth and amateur sports, on transactional and other matters, including mergers and acquisitions; stadium and team debt financings; equity financings; media, apparel, naming rights, sponsorship, licensing and other commercial agreements; internal investigations; and youth protection and safeguarding matters. Beyond his sports practice, Nick advises companies, private equity funds and their portfolio companies on their transactions and other business matters, with a focus on middle market mergers and acquisitions and complex commercial transactions. He advises clients in multiple industries, including sports, technology, financial services, retail and consumer products, health care, manufacturing and staffing and other business services. Nick’s mergers and acquisitions experience includes leading a broad range of transactions, from large public and private company control acquisitions and divestitures to strategic investments, equity and growth financings and smaller bolt-on stock or asset acquisitions and asset divestitures. In addition, Nick regularly serves as an outside general counsel to such sponsors and their portfolio companies, providing and coordinating daily legal services on a variety of matters, including corporate governance, commercial contracts, incentive equity, intellectual property, labor and employment, employee benefits, data privacy and security, real estate and tax.
