Bio

Matthew Mamak is a partner in the Corporate & Business Transactions Group. He regularly advises public and private companies and investment vehicles on capital structuring and raising, corporate governance, and securities regulation and compliance issues. Matthew has unique experience regarding the formation, structuring and regulatory issues associated with public and private commodity pools. He advises clients on compliance with the Commodity Exchange Act, Investment Advisers Act of 1940, exemptions from the Investment Company Act of 1940, Securities Act of 1933, Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the rules and regulations of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Securities and Exchange Commission, National Futures Association and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. His public company clients range from start-ups to well-seasoned issuers. He represents a broad range of investment vehicles that utilize different strategies, from well-established institutions to start-up fund managers. Matthew is the chair of Alston & Bird’s New York City Pro Bono Committee and serves as the partner in charge of the firm’s mentoring program. He was recently recognized for his exemplary volunteer work with the Legal Clinic for the Homeless by being selected for the City Bar Justice Center’s 2013 Jeremy G. Epstein Award for Pro Bono Service.
