Jim Nygaard Bio

Jim Nygaard is a managing director at XMS Capital Partners and is responsible for leading all mergers and acquisitions execution activities at the firm. With 24 years of investment banking experience, he has completed several strategic transactions, financings and corporate finance advisory assignments for a diverse range of clients in a variety of industry sectors. Over a 12-year period at Morgan Stanley, he assumed various roles within the corporate finance and M&A practices of the firm. Jim led coverage and strategic execution efforts for a number of diverse, Midwest-based companies, including 3M, Anheuser-Busch, ConAgra and Ford Motor Company. Jim graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in economics with a focus on financial accounting. He was valedictorian of his department and received Bronze Tablet Honors, the university’s highest academic distinction.
