Jeff Murphy is a Director in the Accounting and Reporting Advisory practice. He has over 20 years of experience providing technical accounting, financial reporting, transaction advisory, and capital markets advisory services to both public and private sector clients in the U.S. as well as overseas. He has extensive expertise across a broad range of industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing, distribution, professional services, technology, media and entertainment, and financial services and with both U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting standards. Jeff’s technical accounting experience includes business combinations, consolidations and variable interest entities, stock-based compensation, complex securities, revenue recognition, lease accounting, impairment testing, and fresh start/reorganization accounting. He is also experienced in the preparation and review of various SEC filings, such as annual and interim reporting, and registration statements. Jeff has led public company readiness projects for private equity portfolio companies as well as implementation projects for ASC 606 (revenue recognition), ASC 842 (lease accounting) and ASC 326 (credit losses) for public companies. Prior to joining Stout, Jeff was the Senior Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting at Weatherford International. Previously, he was the Director of Technical Accounting at Sony based in Tokyo. Jeff also held management positions with PwC, EY, and CFGI.
