Bio

Mr. Chakrabarti is a Managing Director and Co-Head of Houlihan Lokey’s U.S. Portfolio Valuation and Fund Advisory Services practice. He has more than 20 years of experience providing valuation services to hedge funds, private equity funds, venture capital funds, business development companies, and corporate clients in estimating the value of their illiquid investment portfolios. Additionally Mr. Chakrabarti advises emerging and established fund managers on the development of their valuation governance programs and leads the service offering for the Portfolio Valuation and Fund Advisory Services practice. He is also a member of the Financial and Valuation Advisory ESG Task Force. Mr. Chakrabarti is based in the firm’s New York office. Mr. Chakrabarti’s securities valuation expertise includes U.S. and global debt instruments, such as revolvers, term loans, subordinated debt and mezzanine debt, partnership units, private equity, and leveraged investments across a wide array of industry verticals. In particular, he has expertise in the valuation of complex securities issued by pre-IPO “unicorn” companies globally. Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Chakrabarti was a Director in Duff & Phelps’ Portfolio Valuation practice, where he was responsible for quarterly valuations of more than 150 portfolio investments. Before that, he was a Senior Manager with Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services, Valuation and Business Modeling practice, where he led numerous engagements advising Fortune 100 companies with complex intra-firm transactions, restructurings, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and legal entity rationalizations. Mr. Chakrabarti holds B.A. degrees in Economics and Communications from Rutgers College at Rutgers University–New Brunswick and an MBA, with a concentration in Finance, from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a CFA charterholder.
