Mike Baxter Bio

Mike Baxter is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Transaction Advisory Group in Toronto. His primary areas of concentration are buy- and sell-side financial services for private equity and corporate clients. With more than 13 years of consulting and corporate transaction experience, Mr. Baxter specializes in identifying and assessing financial risk areas; quantifying items that directly impact transaction valuation; solving for complex deal and business concerns; and analyzing key performance indicators. Mr. Baxter has advised on multiple transactions within Canada and the U.S., Europe and Africa, contributing to 100+ domestic and cross-border transactions. Most recently, he has advised on transactions in waste management and environmental services, technology (SaaS and consulting), private equity, payment processing, and manufacturing and distribution. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Baxter was with the transaction services group of KPMG in Toronto. Previously, he spent over six years with a listed IT Group in Johannesburg, supporting the in-house corporate finance function (transaction focused), among other capacities. Prior to this, Mr. Baxter was with the transaction services group of PwC in Johannesburg. Mr. Baxter earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has CA (SA) and CPA (Ontario, Canada) designations.
