Gerardo Villalba Bio

Gerardo Villalba is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in Madrid. With more than 15 years of experience, his primary areas of expertise include operations strategy, overall performance improvement programs, and agile transformations. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Villalba spent four years working at Minsait (Indra) where he was the Head of Industry 4.0, merchant payments, retail, and artificial intelligence solutions. He was responsible for the overall P&L, leading a growth in revenues resulting in an EBITDA CAGR of circa 100 percent. He grew the team to four times its original size, managing multiple inorganic opportunities from target identification to valuation.​ His notable engagements include the development of supply chain strategy and software for a multibillion dollar steel company; application of artificial intelligence for quality purposes; optimization of salesforce routing and data capturing at supermarkets for a leading FMCG company; and a partnership with a leading airline to create a payment platform across Europe and LATAM. Previously, Mr. Villalba spent 10 years with McKinsey & Company. As an Associate Partner, he worked on strategy and operations, with a special focus on cross-operations. Mr. Villalba led client work and development activities across several sectors, focusing on EBITDA improvement programs. Additionally, he built and led the Operational Excellence Program and the Manufacturing Operations practice in Iberia.​ Mr. Villalba earned a degree in industrial engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and a degree in engineering from École National Supérieure de Techniques Avancées. He also completed a senior executive management program from Instituto de Empresa. He is a Spanish national and is fluent in Spanish, English, and French.​
