Federico Chiesa Bio

Federico Chiesa is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in Milan. He specializes in cost optimization, footprint review, and financial discipline. His primary areas of concentration are cost-out, cash-flow forecasting, working capital improvement, and business plan development, bolstered by his strong project management office background for implementation. Mr. Chiesa’s notable assignments include private equity funds (e.g., Bain Capital, CDP Equity, The Riverside Company, Pillarstone, and Atlas Holdings) and mid-to-large corporates (e.g., Permasteelisa, Beautynova, CBRE, M&G, and IsoLux). With more than 15 years of consulting experience, he has served clients in both pre- and post-deal activities, including cost-base review, operating model review, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) support, and acting as shadow CFO. In particular, Mr. Chiesa led the team supporting Beautynova, a haircare producer, in reviewing its working capital. He tackled its slow-moving inventory, identifying opportunities to reduce stock and free cash flow. He also oversaw the development of a weekly cashflow model to detect possible cash shortfalls related to the extraordinary capital expenditure from the setup of a new production plant. Previously, Mr. Chiesa was part of the team supporting a major player in Italian heavy industry to review its performance improvement plan (within its five-year business plan) and identify additional improvement opportunities across the most critical direct and indirect departments, including manufacturing and design and engineering. He also supported M&G Chemicals’ Chapter 11, driving the carve-out of Italian activities related to the U.S. business. He helped to negotiate and implement key contracts, including employees and insurance. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Chiesa spent two years with KPMG Corporate Finance, working mainly in M&A transactions and valuation activities.
