Waqas Ahmed is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in Abu Dhabi. He specializes in strategy and performance improvement. Mr. Ahmed has worked across a range of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, consumer products, services, construction, financial services and telecommunications. With more than 20 years of consulting experience, Mr. Ahmed has significant experience in advising shareholders and boards on strategic and financial matters, including deals, business planning, operating model optimization, cost rationalization, working capital optimization, organizational and governance issues across the U.K., Australia and Middle East. Mr. Ahmed’s notable assignments include leading a transformation program for a diversified holding company, including subsidiaries in real estate development, hospitality, education and asset management. This included several cost optimization and organizational realignment initiatives, review of the performance management and reporting function and working capital management. Additionally, Mr. Ahmed led a strategic options analysis of Middle East region businesses for a large European listed services business and a global automotive manufacturer. While based in London, he advised global private equity funds in relation to various deals in the U.K., continental Europe and Asia-Pacific regions. His clients included KKR, Bridgepoint, CVC, Bain Capital and Macquarie Bank. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Ahmed served as Partner with Deloitte, where he was Head of the Abu Dhabi Financial Advisory business. Mr. Ahmed earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and commerce from the Australian National University. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
