Thomas Cao is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Global Transaction Advisory Group in Toronto. With over 12 years of consulting experience, he is a core member of the firm’s CDD team. Mr. Cao has worked with large institutional investors, private equity funds and principal investors from around the world on their most complex challenges, including commercial due diligence, the design of corporate growth strategy, investment and transformation strategies and the development of market expansion plans. Mr. Cao’s industry focus includes consumer and retail, as well as deals in real estate, healthcare, technology and industrial sectors. Notably, he has worked on over 30 global public and private mandates, including acquisitions and venture capital transactions. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Cao served with Walmart International, where he helped establish the Strategy and Corporate Development function in Canada. There, he was responsible for managing corporate development activities, from strategy to deal execution, and led deal due diligence on major acquisitions for Walmart, both in North America and globally. Previously, Mr. Cao worked with Deloitte and BCG’s PIPE group, advising corporate, PE and SWF clients on transactions and strategy projects. Mr. Cao earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in operation research from the University of Waterloo and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Toronto.
