Robert Perez is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in Los Angeles. He specializes in operations and supply chain performance improvement. With more than 14 years of experience, Mr. Perez has led dozens of strategic procurement initiatives (primarily in directs), driving cost reduction through a variety of levers, including BCC, sourcing events, order management, VA/VE, SKU rationalization, cost modeling, contract management and supplier development. He also has experience in retail, leading assortment optimization, SKU rationalization, price management, discount strategy and displayer complexity reduction. Additionally, Mr. Perez’s performance improvement projects span across the entire deal cycle from buy- and sell-side diligence, merger integration, carve out and post close execution. Most recently, Mr. Perez led the development of several proprietary tools, enabling further automation in spend cube development, working capital management and total cost modeling. Mr. Perez’s notable performance improvement initiatives include working with several $1 billion+ companies on implementing strategic sourcing programs related to metals, electronic components, paper, inks and plastics with annual spends ranging from $100 million to $500 million; leading an aftermarket parts initiative focused on re-defining the logic/formula used to generate customer specific pricing, which increased flexibility, adjusted to real time cost changes, raised overall margins ($4 million) and reduced over the counter price overrides; and assessing corrugated displayers, identifying several cost savings recommendations through demand reduction, re-use across seasons, rationalization, re-packaging and re-sizing, which yielded $5 million to $10 million in savings across $30 million in spend. Furthermore, Mr. Perez has experience in indirect sourcing, where he has identified and implemented leveraged sourcing opportunities across large groups of portfolio companies (5 to 15) in categories such as freight, travel, facility maintenance and office supplies. He also brings deep international working experience in both Asia and Europe to support large/complex sourcing initiatives. Mr. Perez earned a bachelor's degree in business (concentration in finance and operations) from The Kelley School of Business, Indiana University.
