Bio

Paulo Mota is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Transaction Advisory Group in Brazil. He has more than 20 years of experience serving in leadership positions within the financial advisory area in sectors such as healthcare (hospitals, clinics and medical devices), technology, private equity firms, education, automotive, and specialized services. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Mota was a Partner in the Investment Banking-M&A department at KPMG Corporate Finance, LLC for seven years. He provided financial advice to domestic and foreign clients in the acquisition and divestiture of operations in Brazil, supported fundraising for early stage companies and projects, and advised on deal structuring and valuation of companies and projects. Mr. Mota has a proven track record of closing deals and evaluating businesses in Brazil—he delivered more than 120 valuation reports for purchase price allocation, legal restructuring, fairness opinion and definition of a transaction value. Recently, Mr. Mota acted as the financial advisor to a well-known technology company in Brazil in its primary investment in two fintech entities. Previously, Mr. Mota was part of KPMG’s Transaction Services group, leading over 100 due diligence projects in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, as well as throughout Europe (as part of a 2-year mobility program where he executed several vendor due diligence engagements). Mr. Mota earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Salvador, and a graduate degree in private equity and structured finance from Instituto de Empresas (IE) in Madrid. He also completed the Executive Development Program at Fundação Dom Cabral. Mr. Mota is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
