Luis de Lucio is Head of Alvarez & Marsal’s Growth Markets with operations in Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile), North Asia (the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, South Korea), Southeast Asia and Australia (Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth) and India. He led the startup phase of all Latin American operations and leads the firm’s expansion throughout the major Asia-Pacific markets across North Asia, Southeast Asia and Australia & India. Currently, Mr. de Lucio co-leads A&M Brazil (which he founded in 2004) with 800+ professionals in three cities. He led the firm’s core Restructuring and Turnaround business lines to become market leaders in Brazil; and promoted the acquisition of the Infrastructure & Capital Projects business line and its current global expansion. At A&M, Mr. de Lucio has held various interim management positions and advised shareholders, management, and lenders in various global markets. His experience spans across various industry sectors including agri-business, transportation and logistics, hospitality, telecommunications, technology, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and consumer products. Mr. de Lucio’s notable assignments include overseeing a team that managed divestitures and wind-down of Lehman Brothers operations in Brazil, Colombia, etc.; advising a group of Aracruz lenders during major financial crisis in 2008—the restructuring allowed Aracruz to proceed with a merger, and subsequently pre-pay their outstanding debt; and serving as CRO in the debt restructuring and separation into two new entities of the Caete Group. In addition, he served as interim CEO of Agrenco during reorganization process under Brazil’s bankruptcy law, leading a team that reactivated operations and prepared a new plan of recapitalization and reorganization. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. de Lucio served as a Senior Advisor with Darby Overseas Investments Ltd.; served as a senior member of Ernst & Young's Corporate Finance Group overseeing the firm’s Latin American Restructuring and Corporate Finance practice; and began his career as a Commercial Banker at a predecessor of Bank of America. Mr. de Lucio earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland and an MBA in finance from the Kogod Business School at American University. He served as a founding board member of the Turnaround Management Association in Brazil and has been a guest speaker on restructuring and turnaround at Georgetown Law and Fundacao Getulio Vargas’ MBA program. Mr. de Lucio speaks fluent English, Spanish and Portuguese.
