James Marceau is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in Boston. He is a senior leader in the firm’s Global Aerospace, Defense & Aviation practice. Mr. Marceau has a history of leading talented teams of engineers, data scientists, and financial and operations executives to deliver corporate and mission results. With more than 25 years of experience in the U.S. and abroad, Mr. Marceau has led the turnaround of some of the most complex and troubled corporations and government programs by providing vision, leadership, strategy, financial expertise and operational improvement. He advised foreign governments, program executives, CEOs, board of directors and investors to take on complex and challenging government programs, corporate and private equity portfolio company turnarounds, restructurings and transformations. As a recognized expert in aerospace, defense, aviation and issues of national security, Mr. Marceau has been a trusted expert at the highest levels of the US Department of Defense (DoD), all branches of the military, Homeland Security, foreign governments and partner nations. He has led teams on highly complex aviation and weapons platforms and served as a key advisor on many classified government innovation and acquisition programs across the extended enterprise lifecycle. Throughout his career, Mr. Marceau has spoken at aerospace and defense conferences globally; was featured in national publications on issues of national defense; acted as an expert witness on defense and aviation programs; and served as an expert on technology-driven enterprise solutions, military operations, defense innovation, data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Recently, Mr. Marceau and his team executed the turnaround of an industry-leading government and commercial flight training and simulation company owned by one of the largest corporations in the world. He was appointed by the highest levels of a foreign government to lead a team of experts who successfully turned around the most troubled military and aviation acquisition program in that nation’s history. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Marceau was a Partner and a member of the board of directors of PA Aerospace and Defense (PA A&D), which provided strategy through execution capabilities to DoD, foreign governments, private equity firms, and aerospace and defense prime contractors. Mr. Marceau earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado and an MBA in international business from the University of Miami.
