Douglas Jackson is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Performance Improvement in Southeast Asia and Australia, and leads the firm’s Vietnam business in Ho Chi Minh City. He is also a senior member of the firm’s Financial Institutions practice. With more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Jackson specializes in helping senior leadership in the private and public sectors to unlock value through business model innovation, effective partnering and a singular focus on driving sustainable results. He has served clients across Southeast Asia, India, China, Australia and North America. Additionally, Mr. Jackson brings deep expertise in growth and corporate strategy, pricing, risk management, corporate governance, business model innovation and effective partnering. Mr. Jackson’s notable assignments include leading a multidisciplinary team to identify ~$1 billion in cost-out initiatives at a global bank; defining the retail strategy and piloting target operating model changes at a top-three Vietnamese bank that delivered higher DM conversion (4.5x baseline), NTB x-sell ratio (3x) and reduced branch wait times (0.4x); and improving salesforce productivity by over 30% by implementing new sales approach and sales tools at a top-three Vietnamese FMCG company. Furthermore, Mr. Jackson advised then-Party Secretary of Quang Ninh Province, now Prime Minister, His Excellency Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, on a strategy to sustainably develop tourism in Halong Bay. He also assisted His Excellency with a master plan to develop future talent pipelines necessary to improve provincial competitiveness and ensure sustainable foreign direct investment and economic growth. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Jackson was Managing Director and Partner at The Boston Consulting Group and founded the firm’s practice in Vietnam in 2013. Before BCG, he was the Thailand Country Manager for Kearney Southeast Asia. Mr. Jackson has also held senior leadership positions in industry as Executive Deputy General Director at Vietnam International Bank in Vietnam and as Managing Director and Head of Group Strategy at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore. He began his career at Bank of Montreal in Taipei, Taiwan. Mr. Jackson earned a bachelor’s degree (Beta Gamma Sigma) from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, and an MBA in international finance from Columbia University in New York City.
