Doug Houston is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal's Global Transaction Advisory Group in Sydney. He specialises in buy- and sell-side financial due diligence and advising private equity funds and their portfolio companies across a range of industries, including healthcare, software, consumer products and professional and industrial services. With more than eight years of deals experience, Mr. Houston has led due diligence teams on a wide variety of transactions, including platform acquisitions, bolt-on transactions, carve-outs and mergers. Mr. Houston’s notable assignments include providing dual track divestment support on Velocity Frequent Flyer and the subsequent acquisition by Virgin Australia of Affinity Equity Partners’ minority stake; financial due diligence for KKR on their $2 billion acquisition and take private of MYOB; and due diligence for Macquarie Asset Management on their $2.6 billion acquisition and take private of Bingo Industries. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Houston spent four years with EY in Edinburgh and more than 10 years with KPMG and Deloitte in Sydney. He most recently served as a Director at KPMG in Transaction Services, growing the private equity client base and servicing funds, including Pemba Capital, Next Capital, Roc Partners, Crescent Capital, Mercury Capital, KKR, Affinity Equity, Quadrant and Adamantem. Mr. Houston earned a bachelor’s degree in economics (honours) from Durham University in England. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
