David Stass is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in London. He brings expertise in strategy and transformation, serving global firms in high-stakes M&A, transformation and turnaround programmes. With more than 15 years of experience, Mr. Stass specializes in merger integration, carve-out and post-acquisition transformation. Mr. Stass has extensive expertise managing large, highly complex, global programmes with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams and has worked with clients in various industries, including financial services, healthcare, oil and gas and retail. He also has experience in operating model design, cost optimisation, process re-engineering and digital and technology strategy. Mr. Stass’ notable assignments include leading the €2.1 billion carve-out and sale of German technology firm Software AG’s webMethods and Streamsets businesses to IBM. As Programme Manager, he ran the Separation Management Office, developing the separation blueprints, drafting transitional service agreement (TSA) schedules, Day-1 readiness and post-close hypercare. Mr. Stass also led the largest insurance merger and integration in history, valued at $5.6 billion, running the global Integration management office with 20+ consultants and 60+ client staff across five locations from Mexico to Australia. His work enabled a smooth deal close and hand over to the client team after just six months. Previously, Mr. Stass led the merger and integration of the world’s two largest brokerage firms, identifying synergy savings of $100+ million. He led the integration management office, overseeing front- and back-office integration activities, including technology, operations, finance, risk, HR, and legal and compliance. Working with the sell-side separation management office, he developed detailed target operating models, synergy savings forecasts and TSA exit plans and oversaw a global team in London, New York and Singapore, managing cross-workstream dependencies, the two merging entities and multiple third parties. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Stass was Integration, Growth & Transformation Director for HealthHero, a PE-backed scale-up and Europe’s largest digital-first healthcare provider, where he led the integration of six legacy entities into a new combined group structure. Previously, Mr. Stass was an Engagement Manager with Oliver Wyman in London. Mr. Stass earned a master’s degree in physics from the University of Oxford.
